COHOES BRIDGES INC. AT A GLANCE

The mission of Cohoes Bridges is to break the cycle of generational poverty through the “Getting Ahead” program.  Bridges provides tangible /steps for those who are trying to transition out of poverty into stability, as well as relational support from our network and local community.  The organization is funded by donations from local businesses.  The organization gets volunteers trained to be certified to teach our courses.  The graduates are mentored by other volunteers.
In addition the organization works as a clearing house of information for the underserved community.  This includes local and regional health care organizations and state and local agencies.  We sponsor events that help the community to do service projects to earn points toward gifts for their families.
We will be looking for growth by reaching out to local business and community leaders and by identifying grant opportunities.
